Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, widely recognized as AKA, stands out as a prominent South African rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur, showcasing immense talent and popularity.

AKA’s journey began on January 28, 1988, in Cape Town, South Africa. Raised by his grandmother until six, he then moved to Johannesburg to live with his mother, who worked as a school teacher, while his father was employed by an insurance company. AKA’s educational path took him from Holy Cross Covenant to Greenside Primary School and eventually St John’s College. After parting ways with a music group he co-founded, Entity, AKA pursued sound engineering studies in 2006.

In 2002, AKA, along with friends Greyhound and Vice Versa, co-founded the band Entity, gaining recognition with a KORA Awards nomination in 2006. He later joined forces with Buks and Kamza to create The I.V League, contributing to the success of artists like ProKid, Khuli Chana, and JR. AKA’s solo career took off in 2009 with the release of three songs: “In My Walk,” “Mistakes,” and “I Do.”
